GETTING accepted for the Greek National Opera Ballet in the middle of the pandemic was an unlikely bonus for Brisbane ballet dancer Alicia Townsend.
The 23-year-old was holed up back home with her sister Amelia, 21, who is with the Royal Ballet in London, during the lockdown.
Their parents, Annette Roselli (of the Annette Roselli Dance Academy at Tingalpa) and Malcolm Townsend, were happy to have them home but both girls were allowed to go back to London where they are based.
Alicia (right) was over the moon to audition for the Greek National Opera in Athens. She said there was a lot to consider regarding safety and “once I made the decision to attend the audition and then move back to London I only had three weeks to get back in shape” before the audition.
“I cannot describe the feeling of shock but pure happiness when I found out I’d received my dream job,” she said.
“I returned to London still on cloud nine.”
