HARD work has paid off for 14-year-old Madison Whiteley who is off to New York after a winning a position in the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive program.

The talented dancer won the spot in the prestigious five-week program starting in June by sending an audition performance on DVD.
Whiteley said she was excited to be accepted into the program.
‘‘There are so many different classes in so many genres of dance, it will be exciting to see how different it is to my training here in Brisbane,’’ she said.
Whiteley trains full time at Annette Roselli Dance Academy in Wynnum and does schooling by distance so that she can concentrate on her dancing.
Madison’s mum, Ros, said she was thrilled for her daughter to be given the opportunity.
‘‘She is so dedicated and disciplined as a dancer and puts an e xt r aordinary amount of effort into her dance studies,’’ she said.
