SISTERS Alicia and Amelia Townsend have qualified for the national dance championships.
They will attend the nationals on the Gold Coast later this month after finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the junior solos (11 years and under) at the Showcase state dance championships.
Amelia also won the Elite Petite Award for Best Overall 8 years and under.
They have also been selected for the final group of 10 dancers (across all ages) from Queensland to compete in the Dancer of the Year category at the nationals.
They will be competing for a free trip to the USA and to qualify for the world dance championships held every two years and to be conducted at Disneyland in 2009.
Alicia and Amelia will contest classical ballet, demi-character, slow modern, jazz, tap and song and dance at the nationals, which will lure dancers from throughout Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
